Registration now continues into the Enrollment phase. Preregistration is complete. The classes and counselors have been selected. Preregistered scouts are now enrolled in classes. Any newly-registering scouts will be enrolling into classes which have not yet closed.

Thank You Counselors! Please send me your Counselor Notes so that I can get those posted. Counselor Notes help the boys be prepared for Merit Badge College. Such preparation is often necessary for scouts who wish to complete the merit badge at MBC.

My appologies. There was a bug in the registration program for new counselors. If you registered as a counselor and you are not listed here as a counselor, it is because the program failed... and I wrote the program. There is a situation in which the program would have appeared to accept your registration but that registration never got recorded in the database. So if this happened to you, I am truly sorry, but I have no idea who you are! It may have happened to nobody, and if so it's just dumb luck.

Registered unit leaders may edit the enrollment schedules of the scouts in your units. Scouts can still register themselves, but only leaders who know the unit password can edit or drop scouts who are already enrolled. You may also place registered scouts on waiting lists for classes which are currently full.

Please remove duplicates. If a scout is registered twice, please make the effort to drop the duplication. You can do this yourself. Duplicate registrations can cause classes to be erroneously filled and can cause troops to be overbilled. If you don't remember your troop password, you can request it in the schedule editing area.

In general, we try to keep class sizes around 15 boys for four-hour classes and around 25 for eight-hour classes.

If a scout needs a class which is full, you may place him on a waiting list in the edit schedules area. If a scout drops from the class then your scout will automatically take his place and you will be notified by an autmated email.

Merit Badge College is an Eagle District event in which Boy Scouts earn merit badges in a classroom setting. This is not a Cub Scout event. It is open to any scout who wishes to attend, even if they are from out of district.

There will be a Check-In at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the event. One person from each troop will check in the entire troop with a single bank check. They will receive a packet containing the schedules of each of the boys. Each troop is asked to have at least one adult on-site to assist counselors and supervise the boys.

There will be a morning session starting at 8:00 and going through Noon. Pizza lunch will be provided at no charge. There will also be an afternoon session starting at 1:00 and going no later than 5:00. Most merit badge classes will take only one session so the boys will be able to take two merit badges each.

There will be a turn-in date of February 16 at the Edmond First United Methodist Church at 10:00 a.m. The turn-in date is optional, at the descretion of the counselor, but we encourage counselors to use the turn-in date in order to help boys complete their badge. We request that each boy turn in any unfinished work from Merit Badge College to the counselor at that time. Some counselors will schedule a field trip for the boys as part of the merit badge curriculum.

Merit Badge College 2008 will probably cost $10.00 per scout, lunch provided. There will be no charge for adult leaders or merit badge counselors.

The calendar of events follows:
Oct 11, 2007 Begin online registration
Dec 20, 2007 Counselors will be notified by this date which badges they are teaching.
Dec 30, 2007 Early registration ends. Classes are set and registered scouts are enrolled.
Jan 1, 2008 Enrollment period begins. Troops can edit schedules. New scouts are enrolled directly to classes which are not already filled.
Jan 26, 2008 Last day to add or drop scouts without being charged.
Feb 2, 2008 Merit Badge College - Summit Middle School - Check-in at 7:30, classes at 8:00 and 1:00
Feb 16, 2008 Turn-in date for incomplete requirements at Edmond First United Methodist 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.

Thank you for your interest in Merit Badge College!
