Last Frontier Council office in Oklahoma City or Lawton.
Registration is online. Counselors register here. Troops register your scouts here.

The cost this year will remain $10.00 per scout. The cost covers facility use, a pizza lunch, and a drink. At least one adult per troop is required. Adults eat free. Each scout can earn up to two merit badges at MBC. There is a morning session and an afternoon session. Three all-day merit badges -- First Aid, Communications, and Personal Management -- require both sessions. All other merit badges are taught in a
single four-hour session.
Actual class times are generally less than the four-hours alotted. Adults are needed to supervise scouts when they have completed their
classes. There is no closing ceremony. Scouts must check out with their troop leaders and arrange transportation home. In most
cases, scouts will be ready to leave MBC before 5:00.
Merit Badge Requirements
The tangible result of MBC is a merit badge requirement card which is filled out and signed by the
counselor. Leaders, make certain that you obtain the requirement cards when the scouts have completed their classes. In many cases the
cards will have incomplete requirements. The scout must complete all merit badge requirements in order to earn the merit badge.
There will be a turn-in date of January 30, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Edmond First United Methodist
Church activity center building. This is two weeks after the MBC event.
The turn-in date is for counselors to use to help scouts complete unfinished requirements while they are fresh. It is up to the
counselor whether they will take advantage of the turn-in date or not.
Online Registration
Registration is on-line from this web site. Scouts can be entered or dropped online. Their classes can be changed online. They can be entered
into a waiting list for classes which are currently full. Preregistration opens October 30. Late registration and registration editing ends
on Wednesday January 13, just three days before the event, so that schedules can be printed. Payment is made at
check-in,
not online. Full names of scouting youth are not published on the internet for the general public. It is advisable for scouts to
prepare for a merit badge by completing merit badge requirements which cannot be performed in the classroom ahead of time.
Each troop must register online before they can register any of their scouts. Registering a unit requires an adult leader be placed in charge
of registration. The adult will provide email and telephone contact information and enter a user id and password. Scouts can be registered without knowing the password. The password is
required for editing enrollments. MBC Admin and counselors will be allowed to contact the troop contacts via email.
Payment is made at check-in with a single bank check from each troop attending merit badge college. The cost is $10 times the number
of scouts who are enrolled in Merit Badge College as of midnight January 13. We order food and print out schedules based upon the
enrollment on that date. Walk-ins are not allowed. Units will pay for no-shows who are registered as of the deadline.
Preregistration
The scouts select four classes that they would like to take in order of preference. We use the
preregistration figures to determine which merit badges and the number of sessions in each that we will try to offer. At the end of preregistration
a computer program enrolls the preregistered scouts into their classes in the order that they registered. We make every effort
to enroll each preregistered scout into his first and second choices. From that point on, preregistration closes and late registration begins.
Late Registration
Target date for the end of preregistration is December 20. At that point all of the counselors will have been assigned,
all classes will have been assigned morning and afternoon slots, and all preregistered scouts will have been automatically enrolled by a program based on their
requested classes and registration date. From that point on, the registration form will be different. Newly-registered scouts will not choose four merit badges but
will instead enroll directly into classes which are not currently full. The scouts will be
able to learn the name of the counselors who are assigned to them. The troop leader with the MBC login name and password can edit the
classes that the scouts are registered in. They change or swap classes or drop scouts who are not going to attend MBC.
Here are the merit badges to select from. Whether we will actually offer a particular merit badge or not depends upon how well the badge polls during preregistration and whether a counselor is available for the class. Merit badges which poll well will have multiple counselors teaching different classes. Class sizes are contained to about 15.
We are recruiting counselors from all districts to teach the classes. Counselors must register with the Last Frontier Council office in Oklahoma City or Lawton.

Counselor Notes
After a counselor has been confirmed for a merit badge class, the counselor should create class notes for the
boys. These are often worksheets or other documents. The counselor should also explain to scouts enrolled in their classes how to prepare
for the class. If a counselor does not have posted counselor notes, unit leaders will be able to ask the counselors directly.
Call for Counselors
We will need more counselors this year than in recent years because we are preparing for scouts from other
districts, and we've had calls from other councils. Counselors from other districts are welcome. Counselors register online by clicking
the Counselor Registration menu item. Registration gives us contact
information about you. It also lets us know a short list of merit badges that you are able and willing to teach. Admin will place you teaching
a merit badge which you have listed. We ask that MBC counselors also register as merit badge counselors with Last Frontier Council.
