July 4 LibertyFest Parade

It isn't Independence Day in Edmond until you see the boy scouts and the cub scouts marching in the LiberyFest Parade. We want a really big showing this year to comemorate 100 years of the Boy Scouts of America. Come at 8:00 a.m. to the East side of the UCO library.
Wear class A uniform with scarves and sashes. Bring a liter of water. Parents, pick up your cub scouts at the end of the parade route. They will be finished long before the parade is over so be sure to be there when they are and enjoy the rest of the parade together.
Here is
the map of the parade route.

Eagle District Camporee April 24-26
EAGLE DISTRICT CAMPOREE
Our annual Camporee was held this past weekend 04-24-2009 to 04-26-2009. We had great weather, great location, great participants, and great fun. In a word, it was GREAT!!!
200 scouts were in attendance from 10 Troops and 4 Webelos Dens.
New to Eagle District’s Camporee was a Friday night movie, Friday night events, and a Saturday Morning SPL Breakfast.
The theme was “Be Prepared and Expect the Unexpected”. As it turns out, “Be Prepared” brought home a new meaning to a lot of scouts.
Although the adults organized and ran the competitive events the SPL’s and Webelos Denner’s made most of the decisions. They decided what movie to watch (The City of Ember), what time to have the opening ceremony and the SPL’s even had the chance to invite their Scoutmasters to Breakfast…some did.
Saturday was full of events (17+). We had scout skill competitions and scout games competitions. We even had a Monkey Bridge Crossing, Frisbee golf, and tie slide making.
Our District Executive even ran an event (How tall is it), our District Chairman (tug of war), and District Commissioner (First Aid Kim’s Game). I would like to have told you our Council Executive ran an event but he was just having too much fun watching his son’s patrol.
I want to thank the Eagle District Order of the Arrow for conducting the Flag ceremonies and Saturday night Campfire. They also had a “Great” Call Out ceremony.
OK, here’s my challenge…If you have seen all you want to see of Boys having fun, If you have seen all you want to see of boys demonstrating scout skills, If you have had all the fun you ever want to have at a scouting event. If you have met all the people that have the same values, helpfulness, comradeship that you ever want to meet….CAMPOREE IS NOT FOR YOU. But if you haven’t….See you next year
Thanks to all that helped
Ed Sadberry
Also, Council Camporee will be October 23-25, 2009. If you would like to have a Scout Show type exhibit
